Understanding: seating plan settings

Seating plan settings allow you to control how your seating plan behaves both internally and in the customer shop view. These settings help you optimise seat sales, improve the customer experience, and manage pricing structures efficiently.

How to access seating plan settings

To edit your seating plan settings:
1. Go to the Event dashboard
2. Select Manage seating plan
 or
3. Click Plan settings

4. Scroll down to Seating plan settings

You will then see the following configuration options:

Edit plan layout

This option allows you to adjust the physical layout of your seating plan, including adding more seats, repositioning areas, tables, and sections as required.

Re-order price bands

Re-order how your price bands are displayed. If a customer can choose a price band first, you can put the preferred one at the top of their selection.

Sync plan data

Sync the seating plan to ensure all updates and changes are reflected correctly across the event. There's also the option to factory reset the plan

Focus shop view on available seats (defaulted on)

When enabled, the shop will:
  1. Focus only on available seats when the seating plan is opened
  2. Crop out unavailable seats when customers enter an area

This creates a cleaner, more streamlined booking experience and helps customers quickly identify what is still available.

Orphan seat protection

When manually selecting seats, the system will prevent:
  1. Leaving a single empty seat between selected seats
  2. Leaving a single empty seat at the end of a row
This protection only applies when there are other suitable seats available in the row that could accommodate the booking.
This feature helps maximise sellable capacity and reduces unsold single seats.
Alert
Please note: Rectangle table support is coming soon.

Display remaining general admission spaces in Shop

When enabled, customers will be able to see how many general admission spaces remain available in real time.
This is particularly useful for events with seating plans that have an unreserved seating area.

Automatic ticket selection (suggested)

When this setting is enabled and multiple ticket types exist for a seat, the system will automatically assign one to the customer.
Please note:
  1. Free tickets are ignored in automatic selection
  2. You must choose a selection mode
Automatic ticket selection modes
You can choose from:
  1. Highest (suggested)
The system will automatically assign the highest-priced available ticket.
  1. Lowest
The system will automatically assign the lowest-priced available ticket.

Using the highest mode can help maximise revenue, while the lowest mode may support accessibility or pricing strategy.
