If you've shared a direct event or schedule link on Facebook or Instagram, you may notice that customers are taken to your Browse (What's On) page instead of the specific event or schedule you intended.
This behaviour is caused by the way Meta (Facebook and Instagram) processes links.
Why this happens
When a link is shared on Facebook or Instagram, Meta may add additional tracking parameters to the URL.
In some cases, these tracking parameters interfere with the redirect information contained in the link. As a result, the system is unable to recognise the intended destination and instead redirects customers to your account's default Browse (What's On) page.
How to resolve the issue
The recommended workaround is to shorten your event or schedule link before sharing it on Facebook or Instagram.
- Copy the event or schedule link from your Little Box Office account.
- Paste the link into a URL shortening service, such as TinyURL.
- Generate the shortened URL.
- Share the shortened URL on Facebook or Instagram instead of the original link.
Using a shortened URL prevents Meta's tracking parameters from affecting the redirect, allowing customers to be taken to the correct event or schedule page.
